Where did you study?
I studied at Kent State as an undergrad, NEOMED for medical school, and Riverside Methodist Hospital for General Surgery Residency.
What does a typical day look like for you?
My typical day is a combination of rounding, office visits, colonoscopies, and surgery.
What’s the most rewarding part of your day?
The most rewarding part of my day is talking to a grateful family member after surgery.
What is the hardest part of your day?
Sometimes it can be difficult to make people feel comfortable during a very uncomfortable exam.
Can you tell us about a favorite career moment?
A favorite career moment was when I did my first total proctocolectomy and J-pouch.
What does being a surgeon mean to you?
Being a surgeon means being a teacher, mechanic, artist, and therapist all in one!
What advice would you give to an aspiring surgeon?
Read every day and always ask why.
